Here are the privacy policies of the library operator Google.

Google reCAPTCHA

We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter “reCAPTCHA”) on our websites. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

To this end, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of the website visitor using various characteristics. This analysis begins automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g. IP address, length of stay of the website visitor on the website or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google.

The reCAPTCHA analyses run completely in the background. Website visitors are not informed that an analysis is taking place.

Anyone who has disabled the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program will not have to expect any such cookies even when watching YouTube videos. Google Adwords

Our website uses Google Conversion Tracking. If you’ve reached our website via an advertisement sent by Google, Google Adwords will store a cookie on your computer. The conversion tracking cookie is stored when a user clicks on a Google-served ad. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and aren’t used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages on our website and the cookie has not expired, we and Google may recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot be tracked through the websites of advertisers. The information gathered using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords advertisers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers are told the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a conversion tracking tag page. However, they do not receive any information that personally identifies users.

If you do not want to participate in the tracking, you can refuse the required setting of a cookie – for example, via a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies or set your browser to block cookies from the domain “googleleadservices.com”.

Please note that you are not allowed to delete opt-out cookies as long as you do not want to record measurement data. If you have deleted all your cookies in the browser, you must set the respective opt-out cookie again.

Using Google Remarketing

This website uses Google Inc.’s remarketing feature. It’s designed to present interest-based ads to web site visitors within the Google Network. A so-called “cookie” is stored in the browser of the website visitor, which makes it possible to recognize the visitor when he visits web pages belonging to Google advertising network. On these pages, visitors may be presented with ads related to content that the visitor previously viewed on web pages using Google’s remarketing feature.

Google claims that Google doesn’t collect any personal information during this process. If you still don’t want the usage of Google Remarketing, you can always disable it by using appropriate settings. Alternatively, you can disable cookies usage for interest-based advertising through the ad network initiative by following the instructions.

Facebook-Pixel

Within our online offering, due to our legitimate interests in analysis, optimization, and the economic operation of our online offering, the so-called “Facebook Pixel” of the social network Facebook, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA, or, if you are located in the EU, Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”), is used for these purposes.

Facebook is certified under the Privacy Shield agreement, which provides a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

With the help of the Facebook Pixel, Facebook is able to designate the visitors of our online offering as a target group for the display of advertisements (so-called “Facebook Ads”). Accordingly, we use Facebook Pixel to display the Facebook Ads placed by us only to those Facebook users who have also shown an interest in our online offering or who exhibit certain characteristics (e.g., interests in certain topics or products determined by the websites visited), which we transmit to Facebook (so-called “Custom Audiences”). With the help of Facebook Pixel, we want to ensure that our Facebook Ads correspond to the potential interests of users and do not appear bothersome. With the help of Facebook Pixel, we can also track the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and market research purposes by seeing whether users were redirected to our website after clicking on a Facebook advertisement (so-called “Conversion”).

Facebook Pixel is directly integrated by Facebook when you visit our websites and can store a so-called cookie, i.e., a small file, on your device. If you subsequently log into Facebook or visit Facebook while logged in, the visit to our online offering will be noted in your profile. The data collected about you is anonymous to us, so it does not allow us to draw conclusions about the identity of the users. However, the data is stored and processed by Facebook, so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and can be used by Facebook as well as for our own market research and advertising purposes. If we should transmit data to Facebook for comparison purposes, this data is locally encrypted in the browser and only then sent to Facebook via a secure https connection. This is done solely for the purpose of making a comparison with the equally encrypted data stored by Facebook.

The processing of data by Facebook is carried out within the framework of Facebook’s data usage policy. Accordingly, general information about the display of Facebook Ads can be found in Facebook’s data usage policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.

You can object to the collection by Facebook Pixel and the use of your data for the display of Facebook Ads. To adjust the types of advertisements displayed to you within Facebook, you can visit the page set up by Facebook and follow the instructions on usage-based advertising settings: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads. The settings are platform-independent, meaning they are applied to all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.

To prevent the collection of your data via the Facebook Pixel on our website, please click on the following link: Facebook Opt-Out (if no pop-up appears after clicking on the link, the Facebook Custom Audience is currently not active).

Note: When you click on the link, an “Opt-Out” cookie is stored on your device. If you delete the cookies in this browser, you will need to click the link again. Furthermore, the opt-out only applies within the browser you are using and only within our web domain where the link was clicked. You can also object to the use of cookies for audience measurement and advertising purposes via the deactivation page of the Network Advertising Initiative (https://optout.networkadvertising.org/) and additionally the US website (https://www.aboutads.info/choices) or the European website (http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices).

Bing Ads

This website uses Bing Ads, a service provided by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA – Bing Ads Conversion Tracking. When you click on one of our ads on Bing or on selected websites in the Bing advertising network, a temporary cookie is stored on your computer. If you then visit a conversion page on our site, it is recognized – both by Microsoft Bing and us – that you previously clicked on the ad. This is used to create conversion statistics, i.e., to track how many users reach a conversion page, i.e., complete an order process, after clicking on an ad. If you do not want to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse the setting of a cookie required for this purpose – for example, via browser settings that generally deactivate the automatic setting of cookies. The use of Bing Ads is based on Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising.

Changes to our privacy policy

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy to always comply with the current legal requirements or to implement changes to our services in the privacy policy, e.g. when introducing new services. Your new visit will be subject to the new privacy policy.
