Further information about Lufthansa
The German Lufthansa AG is one of the biggest airlines in the world. Headquarters are in Cologne and the home airport is in Frankfurt am Main. Lufthansa is one of the founding members of the airline alliance Star Alliance. The company is known for its Miles & More programme, a worldwide frequent-flyer programme.
In 1926, the German Aero Lloyd AG and the Junkers Luftverkejr AG merged under the name of Deutsche Luft Hansa AG. At this point, the crane in a circle was already the logo. In 1933 the name was finally changed to Lufthansa. In the mid nineties, the scheduled air carrier Lufthansa developed into a corporate group.
Currently, Lufthansa flights depart from 22 German airports: Westerland (GWT), Rostock (RLG), Hamburg (HAM), Bremen (BRE), Hannover (HAJ), Berlin-Tegel (TXL), Münster/Osnabrück (FMO), Dortmund (DTM), Düsseldorf (DUS), Leipzig/Halle (LEJ), Dresden (DRS), Köln/Bonn (CGN), Frankfurt (FRA), Bamberg (ZCD), Saarbrücken (SCN), Mannheim (MHG), Kaiserslautern (KLT), Nürnberg (NUE), Stuttgart (STR), Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB), Munich (MUC) and Friedrichshafen (FDH).
Some cities, e.g. Rosenheim, are directly connected to the route network so that there is no need for purchasing an extra ticket.
